My “Nostalgia and More” programme features quality music of yesteryear.

It combines the best of popular ballads with some of the better known pieces from the light classical repertoire and features a diverse range of international and Australian artists.

Australian content is relatively high, typically 30 – 40%. This reflects the fact that many Australian artists, including vocalists and orchestra conductors, had international careers before and after World War Two. The programme generally features songs in many languages INC. Italian, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Latin, Maori, Gaelic, Afrikaans.

David Wood

David Wood joined Radio Eastern in 2010 after a varied international corporate career in finance and management.

Living and working across four continents confirmed to David that music is the true international language.

Attending a concert in Santiago, Chile is just as rewarding as attending one in a small Eastern European town. Likewise, watching Die Lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow) performed in German in Vienna is no different – musically – from seeing it performed in English at the Sydney Opera House.

Whilst living in the USA, despite a busy schedule, frequent New York visits sometimes saw David slip away to attend a Broadway play or Musical. London visits, usually, managed to accommodate a West End show or a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

With this background and, extensive musical knowledge, David brings wide musical tastes – from Country music to Opera – to the Radio Eastern microphones.

David’s hobbies include writing, with many of his diverse articles being published locally and internationally. Currently he is working on several railway articles and has curtailed his Radio Eastern commitments accordingly.
